His most famous book, INTRODUCTION TO THE DEVOUT LIFE, was written for ordinary people. St. Francis speaks simply, naturally, and from his heart. Founder of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer and Bishop of St. Agatha of the Goths. These sermons are probably the most powerful and compelling ever given to mankind. Expounding on the theme, &#8220;What doth it profit a man if he gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his own soul&#8221;. St. Alphonsus dwells repeatedly on the Four Last Things: Death, Judgment, Heaven and Hell. Relentlessly, he brings the listener to consider his own eternal destiny. Was made parish priest of Ars, a village not very far from Lyons. It was in the exercise of the functions of the parish priest in this remote French hamlet that as the &#8220;Cur\u00e9 d&#8217;Ars&#8221; he became known throughout France and the Christian world. Intellect was not the greatest gift of St. John Vianney, but rather, a profound humility which gave him insight into the matters of life in a simple way that ordinary people could understand and his sermons which moved them to virtue and the love of God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText3\" style=\"text-align: justify; text-justify: newspaper; text-kashida-space: 50%;\"><span lang=\"en-US\" style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: blue; language: en-US;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText3\" style=\"text-align: justify; text-justify: newspaper; text-kashida-space: 50%;\"><a href=\"wordpress\/archives-i#mckenna\"><span lang=\"en-US\" style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; text-decoration: underline; language: en-US;\">Bishop Robert McKenna RIP, O.P.:<\/span><\/a> <span lang=\"en-US\" style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: #0066ff; language: en-US;\"> On August 22, 1986, Bishop McKenna was consecrated a bishop with the traditional Roman Rite in Raveau, France by Mgr. Michel Guerard des Lauriers, O.P. Bishop McKenna was a noted exorcist, though due to his advanced age and busy schedule, he has given up taking any more cases. At present, Bishop McKenna continues to minister to the faithful at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rosarychapel.net\/index.php\"><span lang=\"en-US\" style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; text-decoration: underline; language: en-US;\">Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\" style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: blue; language: en-US;\"> in Monroe, Connecticut, offering the true Mass and Sacraments to traditional Catholics who come for Mass on Sundays each week from as far away as New York, New Jersey, Rhodes Island, and Massachusetts. A monk since 1942 and a priest since 1949. Due to the devastating effects of the modernist changes in the Roman Catholic Church, brought about by Vatican Council II and its spirit, he left his original monastery. He soon realized that it was imperative that the traditional Benedictine way of life be preserved and kept alive for the welfare of the holy Catholic Faith. On July 13, 1994, he received the Abbatial Blessing by His Excellency, Bishop Robert F. McKenna, O.P. Although the Abbatial Blessing confers on him the title and power of an abbot over a monastery, it does not make him a bishop with the power of ordaining to the Holy Priesthood. Father Stepanich has a doctorate degree in theology. His sermons are full of Catholic truth and wisdom.
